2012 LAMMY Award Nominee

I am very proud to announce that The Hollywood Revue has been nominated for Best Classic Film Blog in the 2012 LAMMY Awards (hosted by the Large Association of Movie Blogs)!  I must say, the Classic Film Blog category is pretty amazing this year.  Also nominated in that category are Garbo Laughs, True Classics, Defiant Success, Where Danger Lives, and Cinema Sights; all excellent blogs!  Thank you to everybody who nominated me and good luck to all my fellow nominees!

Now, for something fun to celebrate, here are some songs that are either inspired by classic films/stars or sample clips/songs from them:

Madonna: White Heat
Inspired by and samples James Cagney in White Heat

Kim Carnes: Bette Davis Eyes

Madonna: Vogue

The Foxboro Hot Tubs: She’s a Saint, Not a Celebrity
Samples Elizabeth Taylor in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

The White Stripes: The Union Forever
Inspired by Citizen Kane, particularly the song from this scene.

The Clash: The Right Profile
Inspired by Montgomery Clift

Beastie Boys: Egg Man (Skip to the 7:47 mark)
Samples Bernard Hermann’s score from Psycho.

  1. Congrats on your Lammy Nomination. 🙂 Best of luck in the soon to end voting.
